Life has its ways of throwing curveballs and monkey wrenches. No sooner have you resolved to take a course of action in certainty then life decides, “Let’s test that decision, shall we?” Decide to never be late for a function then you hit every red light in the county. Resolve to workout everyday, then you tear your ACL or fall prey to the pressure of keeping a hard but well-meaning promise to yourself. Or, say, think you’ll never eat dog food until you find yourself consuming half a circular bin of what you thought were Christmas-themed cookies as a midnight snack. Only to find you’ve consumed a good many canine confections that were not, in fact, Christmas tree-shaped but fucking fire hydrants. In the cold light of day, the bland taste and grainy texture made sense. You stare at the beaming puppy on the container, perhaps a little embarrassed but more hopeful that you might obtain a shiny, beautiful coat from the deal. I mean, a guy can dream, can’t he?

The last scenario is pulled from real life, MY real life. After my realization, I took to Faceyspace and posted the entire situation; to which Gunny, my lovingly sardonic mentor and best buddy, responded, “PICS OR IT DIDN’T HAPPEN.” I had no pics but it did happen. Oh, yes, it did.

I got out of the business of making resolutions some time ago when I realized that I didn’t need to put unnecessary pressure on myself. I used to have timelines when I was in my early-20s: “You must be married by the time you’re 30. You have to visit a different hemisphere every quarter this year. You must learn how to lose 300 lbs. so you can be ghost thin by the next new year.” To be frank, none of them ever came true. I got married in my early-30s, I didn’t need to visit a hemisphere, and I am doing well carrying the weight I’ve got. At 45, resolutions are best left to the ambitious and the young. In the immortal words of someone somewhere that said it: Ain’t nobody got time for that! I’m happy with my chosen family (Pup/Daddy/boy/friends), a large iced Americano, and a wonderful bin of quality dog treats, thank you very much.

We just closed out 2025 and opened up a fresh new year, can you smell that new cassette tape smell? I can. Ready to record my mixtape of 2026. What’ll it bring? I don’t know…and that’s totally okay.

Before 2026 officially began, the Pup and I enjoyed an evening of lasagna, salad, and garlic bread while watching the latest season of Stranger Things. During the evening, I asked him if he was one for resolutions. Giving it a little thought, he said he preferred goals vice making resolutions. That made sense to me and I’m happy he pulled that word from the ether because I was having issues finding resolutions in my head book. From there, he gave me about four of his goals that made complete sense and are certainly achievable. I love that he does not put pressure on himself either.

That said, I gave him a list of goals I’ve got for the new year. The list could change by the day’s end and that’s fine. I’m going to share them with you because, well, that’s what I do.

SIR Wolf’s goals (not resolutions) for 2026

GOAL ONE
I’d like to continue my journey by seeking opportunities to teach and share what I know with the Community. This means writing more here and participating in Leather/Kink events in the capacity of instructor. In 2025, I did impact/sensation play demos at Sacramento Pride, the Bolt, and taught at a Fetish Fair. All were immensely rewarding and fun; I’d like to do more of that work in 2026. Should such events arise, you can find them on the Events page.

GOAL TWO
Embrace my Dominance more by fostering existing dynamics and being more judicious about developing new ones. 2025 saw a lot of potential dynamics dead-ending. It taught me a lot about vetting and setting boundaries. I’m currently fostering a Master/slave dynamic and would like to write about that over the year as it develops. I’m also considering going pro-Dom which is in its infancy as far as ideas go. We’ll have to see. I’ll continue to be SIR/Daddy/Handler and will strive to be available to folx seeking guidance on their path into Leather and Kink. If you’re interested, reach out but know that you’ll enter an extensive vetting process that may potentially end without a dynamic.

GOAL THREE
Continue to show up for myself and my Communities without seeking acclaim. As the current Organizer for BLUF San Francisco (BLUFSF), I’ve learned a lot about event organization and the importance of connections. A lot of the work I’ve done has been for the Community. I want to continue bringing folx together and adding philanthropic endeavours into the mix while I’m at it. I think it’s important to carry on the Leather Community’s tradition of fundraising for causes; I also think it’s important that such efforts be done selflessly. These won’t be MY events, they are events FOR the Community. I’ll be happy seeing that whatever is taking place is successful. I’ll continue singing with the Sacramento Gay Men’s Chorus (SGMC) for this year’s Pride Show as well as as many community engagement events as my schedule will allow.

GOAL FOUR
2025 was a tumultuous time for many folx, I won’t rehash the collective shudder much of the nation experienced as few sectors were left untouched. Unfortunately, I was affected and received a rude awakening that my job is no longer stable and secure. I spent part of the year looking for work just in case my job was chopped. Fortunately, it wasn’t and I continued to stay on; unfortunately, knowing how expendable and dispensable I am drained all desire to keep going despite being a couple of years out from qualifying for early retirement. The work I’ve been doing for nearly 15 years has always been in service to my fellow Veterans. I loved the mission and the work; however, I’m sure I can’t keep on in the current environment and am taking charge. Rather than wait and hope for things to get better, I’ve enrolled in a course to obtain a paralegal certification. I’ve got a B.S. in Criminal Justice and have always loved law. As I do not have the resources for law school, paralegal work is a great start. I’m excited to be starting it later this month.

GOAL FIVE
This is a doozy for me and I’ve been oscillating on it for the past couple of years: I’m intending on running for a title in 2026. More specifically, the title of Mister Bolt Leather in Sacramento. I had intended on going for it in 2025 but the shit hit the fan with the administration which put my livelihood in doubt. I ultimately decided to not compete because my house had fallen into disarray. That and I had taken the reins of leading BLUFSF which took much of my time. Now that things have leveled out, I feel like I’m ready to move forward with the plan. I’ve already decided I’m going to give myself three chances and that will be it. That said, it’s officially out there now. So…dog treats for ALL!

CONCLUSION

In 2026, I’m choosing to be gentle with myself and to keep a clear head on my shoulders by keeping things manageable. 2025 was busy but it wasn’t impossible. I don’t think I did too much, it was just enough to use my bandwidth without exhausting me. 2026 will see a more thoughtful allocation of resources was I pursue vocational diversification and foster existing dynamics. I’ll continue to engage my Dominance and show up for my Communities. I’ll smoke the cigars, wear the Leather, and sing the songs. I want to dance more and honor the lessons passed onto me by my life’s mentors: My grandmother, Gunny, and Colton Ford. I’m alive, I’m here, and I’m ready to move forward in 2026.
